Position: Food Technologist

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for applying Food Science expertise and culinary knowledge to develop new food products and improve existing products for Nestle Prepared Foods Co. This will require working with moderate supervision to develop new retail products designed to meet the needs of the consumer. This position will also optimize product quality via improvements in ingredients, formulation and processing strategies to support the value chain.

Responsibilities:
' Develop new products, line extensions and improve existing products by managing product development activity from concept through commercialization to meet project objectives and timelines. Manage or participate in cross-functional project teams to support product development activity .Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation to support costing, labeling, scale up and production of new and existing products
' Travel as required to support project assignments and activities (15-35%)
' Participate in team and departmental activities such as panels, meetings, committees, and administrative obligations that support project objectives and departmental initiatives
' Maintain technical/culinary skills and personal improvement through completion of appropriate training
' Train/mentor others

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:
' Bachelors or Masters of Food Science is preferred
' Bachelor or Masters degree in science related field with experience developing products in food industry would be considered

Experience:
' Excellent dough formulation skills and an understanding of food systems
' Strong understanding of the relationship of processing equipment and formulation
' Knowledge of ingredient functionality
' Excellent organizational skills
' Good oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with all levels of management
' Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments
' Passion for food
' Highly motivated and goal oriented
' Ability to adapt to change
' Must be a team player and possess good interpersonal skills
' Working understanding of financial costing analysis methodology and strategy
' Knowledge of frozen food processing and microwavable foods is a plus
' Understanding of sensory testing and statistics
' Computer systems and databases (Genesis, recipe, NPDI)
