This position will help lead Research and Development projects and technology initiatives centered around raw product and new raw varieties. The incumbent will help supervise and support technical aspects of research and help conceive plans and conduct research of potato varieties to influence scientific knowledge and technological development. This position will assess feasibility and soundness of proposed experimental approaches, techniques and equipment, and carry out complex or novel assignments that may require the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures. The Scientist will help direct research of potatoes with internal entities (Ag Operations, Product Development) as well as outside research organization (Universities, Contractors) to improve finished product quality and develop novel new products.

Independently design, plan and execute experiments.

Interpret experimental results and implement next steps.

Demonstrate thorough knowledge of pilot plant and commercial scale processes and equipment.

Generate raw material, manufacturing and finished product specifications utilizing on-line specification system.

Work with cross-functional departments to accomplish project objectives.

Contact external industry experts to obtain and present technical information to the R&D organization that can be applied to projects.

Organize and lead project presentations to brand management.

Maintain awareness of current technical trends and identify and implement technologies that can be applied to increase profitability.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of project objectives in a fast-paced environment.

Drive innovation and creativity within brand group by bringing new ideas and prototypes for team review.

All research will require hands-on processing trials (Pilot Plant &/or factory), which will allow for evaluation of finished product quality and characterization of affects of various treatments.

Bachelors in Science or Chemistry (Food Science &/or Agronomy Related preferred) with 3-5 years of related experience.

Masters (Food Science &/or Agronomy related preferred)
with 0-3 years related experience

Experience in Product Development in a Food Company required

Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Must possess high learning agility

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.

Excellent interpersonal skills
