Barely a week after four tribals died of food poisoning after consuming mango
kernel soup, two more tribals died in a similar manner at Talarangpani in Narayanpatna block. Medical officer (Narayanpatna) Subrat Das, who visited
the village on Tuesday, said, "We suspect Lachana Huika (35) and his
wife, Tumbo Huika (30), were killed after consuming mango kernel soup, which
serves as staple food for tribals here. But the soup gets affected by
bacteria and fungus if it is kept for more than one day. It becomes poisonous
