Safety & Quality Assurance - Brea, CA Tracking Code 20120883 Job Description Position Purpose The Corporate Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA)
Manager has the primary responsibility for assuring safe, high quality food
by establishing and implementing food safety and quality policies and
programs in their bakeries and meeting all regulatory, customer, and ARYZTA
requirements. Scope/Complexity/Supervisory
Responsibilities The Corporate FSQA Manager is a leader for their bakeries and
externally with customers. They are responsible for implementing food safety
and quality assurance programs and ensuring operations is in compliance with
best practices for food safety and quality. The Corporate FSQA Manager
reports directly to the Director, Food Safety & Quality Assurance. The
Corporate FSQA Manager provides leadership directly to their team (exempt
and/or non-exempt) and indirectly to other leaders in Operations, Innovation,
and Commercialization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This section describes the core responsibilities
of this position. Duties may vary dependent on department staffing and
seasonal fluctuations. · Responsible for
understanding all applicable food regulations (international, national,
state, and local) and assuring bakeries meet all regulations · Responsible for
understanding the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC,
SQF) assisting with implementation and recertification in bakeries and
responsible for facilitating and overseeing bakery preparations for customer
and third party audits · Knowledgeable on
requirements for FDA registrations, Organic, non-GM, Kosher, and Halal · Responsible for
implementing corporate food safety and quality assurance policies including
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard
Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Quality Management System
(QMS) and creating improvement recommendations · Responds to customer
requests to preserve and enhance the image of the company as a competent
supplier of quality foods exceeding their expectations · Supports and
participates in new product development projects for customers and works with
Innovation, Commercialization, and Operations to define and improve product
specifications · Responsible for
assuring bakery QA Managers effectively investigate customer/consumer
complaints using root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive
measures, and respond to complaints in the required timeframe, and analyzing
complaint trends · Responsible for the
selection, motivation and development of Quality Assurance bakery personnel
to ensure all positions are effectively staffed and future management is
developed. Identifies promotable personnel and assures necessary and
desirable training. Conducts timely formal annual performance evaluations for
all direct reports, in addition to recommending developmental training · Ensures food safety
and quality training is effective for all bakeries · Assists bakeries with
process capability studies and statistical analysis to assure safe, quality
food · Authorized to hold and
release product based on food safety or quality non-conformance · Evaluates trends on
bakery daily food evaluations and provides direction for improvement · Responsible for
effective implementation of ARYZTA supplier approval monitoring program · Responsible for the
effective implementation of ARYZTA Recall and Traceability Program including
accurate, timely mock traceability exercises · Other duties may be
assigned and Corporate FSQA Manager is expected to effectively manage and
execute changes Required Skills · Excellent leadership,
communication, and team building skills · Ability to function
effectively and handle multiple projects simultaneously · Certified in HACCP
(Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) · Certified in a Global
Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF · Understanding of
microbiology aseptic sampling, methods, and interpretation · Good writing,
statistics (SPC and charting), analytical, and critical thinking skills · Proficient in
computers including spreadsheets, statistical programs, and SAP applications Required Experience 3-6 years food industry manufacturing or quality experience
including multi-site leadership experience Job Location Brea, California,
