Quality Assurance Technician - International Dehydrated Foods, Inc.

Reports to:               Quality Process Manager  



Responsibilities:    Primary responsibilities include assisting the Quality Process Manager in working with production, maintenance and all other departments in adherence to all self-inspection programs, USDA programs and regulatory requirements. Perform Pre-shipment Reviews, HACCP monitoring, SSOP, GMP, Quality Assurance audits and inspect finished product. Assist the Chemistry and Microbiology Technicians, as needed. Assist with special testing, sampling and process trouble shooting when directed. And, when needed, acts as company liaison with the USDA. 



  • Assists in the ongoing management of all aspects of the quality and food safety programs. Includes SSOPs (Standard Sanitary Operational Procedures), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and product specifications.
  • Monitor processing parameters (temperature, weight, equipment calibration, etc.) to satisfy HACCP program requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations and food safety standards issued by USDA and other federal, state and all other food safety agencies.
  • Monitor food safety, regulatory compliance and legality requirements of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.
  • Collect samples, as needed, for environmental and product testing.
  • Performs Internal Audits.
  • Conduct SSOP Daily Operational audits.
  • As directed; collect, review and assemble all daily HACCP and SSOP documentation.
  • Assists in handling requirements for allergens, foreign body detection, product inspection, control of non-conforming product.
  • Assist Production Leads and Supervisors with assessments of practices and procedures used during that shifts production and/or sanitation tasks.
  • Conducts pre-shipment review process.
  • Assists in personnel development, including but not limited to; training, access and movement of personnel and personal hygiene.
  • Provides back-up for lab personnel, when needed.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with USDA.
  • Assists with other duties as requested.




Job Experience/Technical Expertise:

  • Prefer completion of post-secondary education, training or verifiable related job experience in a related field of study (Food Science, Microbiology, etc).
  • Has knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP and USDA regulations.
  • Has proficient computer skills.
  • Acquires and applies professional/technical knowledge, skills, experience, and judgment to accomplish results, serve customers better and contribute to the organization’s intellectual capital.
