Description
TxMQ is currently assisting their client in the search for a qualified Food Scientist for their food manufacturing facility in Chautauqua County, NY.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
        Use chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and other sciences to study the principles underlying the processing and deterioration of foods;
        Analyze food content to determine levels of vitamins, fat, sugar, and protein;
        Discover new food sources;
        Research ways to make processed foods safe, palatable, and healthful;
        Apply food science knowledge to determine best ways to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute food.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
        Computing moisture or salt content, percentages of ingredients, formulas, or other product factors, using mathematical and chemical procedures,
        Conducting standardized tests on food, additives, and preservatives in order to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as color, texture, and nutrients,
        Examining chemical and biological samples in order to identify cell structures, and locating bacteria, or extraneous material, using a microscope,
        Providing assistance to production, sales and quality assurance,
        Recording and compiling test results, and preparing graphs, charts, and reports,
        Measuring, testing, and weighing containers in order to ensure hardness, strength, and dimensions that meet specifications,
        Mixing, blending, or cultivating ingredients in order to make reagents or to manufacture food products,
        Ordering supplies needed to maintain inventories in laboratories or in storage facilities of food processing plants,
        Tasting or smelling foods in order to ensure that flavors meet specifications, or selecting samples with specific characteristics and setting up sensory evaluation panels,
        Developing ingredient statements and nutritional labeling within FDA regulatory standards,

SALARY:
        Salary will be commensurate with experience in the $60-80K range, plus an excellent benefits package, 401(k) after 1 year of service, vacation, performance and end of year bonuses, etc.
