Support
the comprehensive corporate Food Safety Quality Assurance mission and
strategies to minimize consumer, regulatory, image and overall business
risks. Directly
interact with the corporate Fresh departments (Meat/Seafood, Bakery, Deli,
(Dairy) and Produce to develop, implement and monitor Food Safety programs as
directed by the Supply Chain Fresh FS director to support the greater Food
Safety Quality Assurance Strategies. Support
and assist in the management of the corporate recall functions that serve all
DC’s and retail endpoint stakeholders. Under
the direction of the director of supply chain food safety and working with
the corporate legal department, monitor and recommend and implement action
plans for all pending food safety regulations that affect our DC’s and retail
supply chain end points. In addition, respond directly to all
regulatory inquiries regardless of source. Interface
with the Private Brands Quality Assurance team to solve supply chain and
fresh category food safety and quality issues that affect our corporate
labeled products. (Regulatory, Recall, Cold Chain, Labeling, etc.) Interface
with the Retail Food Safety banner teams to solve supply chain and fresh
category food safety and quality issues that affect our banner stores and
region supplied independent retailers. Internally
interact with the corporate legal and communication teams as necessary. Conduct
Food Safety facility audits on food production plants, farms or other
production operations as directed. Note that some international travel
may be required. Review
and assess food safety audit reports from 3rd party auditors on
food production facilities, farms, ranches and other production operations. Support
and execute DC Food Safety; cold chain, receiving, HACCP and “Good
Warehousing Practices” processes as directed. Train
specialist associates in all areas above. Expand personal knowledge
through internal and external contacts including trade associations,
regulatory meetings, academia and committee work.
Bachelor’s degree in
food science/technology, biological sciences or related field required
