JOB
PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Work
in inter-departmental role to lead the development of new or improved
cultured dairy products. Transform ideas into marketable prototypes via
hands-on research. Follow through to commercialization.
ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•
Work with cross-functional teams in the development of new product
formulations
•
Conceptualize and develop innovative product prototypes that deliver
project objectives
•
Optimize existing products (cost, nutritional profiles, ingredient
statements, performance)
•
Source and evaluate new ingredients
•
Evaluate current processing capabilities
•
Design and execute pilot plant experiments
•
Lead plant trial testing
•
Establish production parameters and processing procedures by drafting
product specifications
•
Confirm that products will meet code by conducting shelf life testing for
new product formulations
•
Provide nutritional labeling, ingredient statements as applicable
•
Coordinate production start-up when appropriate

Communicate
research results and maintain accurate and complete records
|

Requirements
|
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
A.
Education and Experience:
•
B.S. in Food Science or related field
•
5-8 years relevant work experience in the Dairy Industry
B.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•
Experienced in product development and formulation of cultured dairy
products
•
Working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations
•
Knowledge of experimental design
•
Knowledge of food sensory evaluation and shelf life study techniques
•
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•
Must drive for results and be able to quickly move projects forward
•
Must have creative thinking and passion for hands-on research
