The Food Safety Compliance Manager will facilitate development, implementation and training for comprehensive systems to ensure food safety and sanitation.

The focus of the Food Safety Compliance Manager will be consistent adherence to documented regulatory, corporate and local regulations, standards and practices.  The individual will act as the primary regional Food Safety and Sanitation resource to Bimbo Bakeries USA production facilities, co-packers, distribution facilities and thrift stores.

The Food Safety Compliance Manager will be responsible for conducting risk based Food Safety / Sanitation / Quality Systems Audits at company facilities, co-packers, distribution centers and key ingredient vendors.  The Manager will also be responsible for reviewing the corrective action for audit deficiencies and monitoring the status of corrective action at the audited facilities. In addition, the Manager will lead with behaviors that promote cultural change through outstanding team-based relationships.

Principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
--Lead through example - promote safety performance and help establish a safety culture
--Conduct formal facility risk assessments and prioritize work based upon assigned risks
--Conduct Food Safety / Sanitation / Quality Systems Audits and cultural assessments
--Provide timely, concise, accurate reports of the audit findings
--Review the facility corrective action for inspection deficiencies
--Monitor the status of corrective action at the audited facilities
--Facilitate compliance with all food safety programs for the facilities including HACCP, GMPs, Allergen control, lot traceability, associate food safety training, etc.
--Monitor effectiveness of Master Cleaning Sanitation Schedule, cleaning procedures, chemical usage and chemical safety
--Coach/train facility management staffs where necessary
--Help to identify trends in inadequate regulatory compliance within the organization
--Identify areas where facilities need assistance in maintaining regulatory compliance
--Support company initiatives to reduce consumer complaints; foreign material, mold, etc.
--Support compliance with customer requirements; GFSI Certified Audits, AIB Inspections, etc.
--Travel 80%.  Occasional weekend travel may be necessary
--Provide comprehensive, timely and value-added food safety / sanitation resource assistance to all facilities within area of responsibility
--Manage and is responsible for personal travel budget
--Support the achievement of facility productivity targets by identifying opportunities to reduce costs
--Team with other Shared Services groups in fostering process improvement, communication and facility cohesiveness; share best practices and knowledge among the entire organization

Position Requirements

--BS degree in Food Science or related major preferred
--5 years’ minimum experience in the food industry, with 3 years’ Food Safety, Sanitation and/or Quality Assurance
--Bakery operations management experience a plus
--Knowledge of HACCP and formal auditing experience desired
--Familiarity with federal and state regulations, AIB, GFSI Standards and major customer requirements is required
--Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
--Strong interpersonal and communication skills
--Organized and detail-oriented
--Comfortable working in a distance team environment
