LUCKNOW: Two days after 60 girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalya (KGBV), Kakori, fell sick after consuming breakfast, the district administration and health department still have not been able to identify the cause of food poisoning.

Though, two inquiries were set up by the administration and the government respectively, none have been completed so far.

The report of food sample test is also awaited. Under these circumstances, authorities are still in the dark as to what was the real cause of food poisoning.

Meanwhile, 20 out of 41 girls admitted to Balrampur hospital were discharged on Wednesday.

The remaining, doctors said, would be allowed to go home on Thursday. "All the girls are recovering and will be ready to be discharged by Thursday morning," said a senior doctor.

The girls had fallen sick on Monday after consuming breakfast served to them in school.

While initial reports said boiled white peas given to the girls for breakfast were pestinfested , authorities so far had not been able to come to a definite conclusion.

KGBVs are special schools run for girls belonging to below poverty line families in rural areas.

These schools are run by District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) with the support of the central government.
