Sensory Testing Facilitator-16633

Job Overview:

Maintains the sensory lab, executes sensory cuttings and tests, recruits test participants, manages participant database and supports sensory team as needed with other sensory lab functions. Utilizes understanding of sensory test methods and expertise in test execution to gather, organize and analyze information from both internal and external sensory sources leading to market decisions on new products across all grocery categories, food and non-food. Partners with Sensory Manager to align with innovation, product development, brand management and other departments to provide quantitative consumer insights that drive Private Brand product sales and growth.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Plan, organize and implement sensory research designed to ensure consumer needs are met.
  • Prioritize research activities and execute sensory research, for onsite and some offsite tests.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the sensory lab (ordering materials, maintaining inventory and maintaining a clean, organized and safe laboratory workspace).
  • Establish excellent working relationships with internal and external coworkers
    Assist in the development and maintenance of sensory data collection systems.
  • Maintain panelist database and panelist tracking system.
  • Manage recruitment for sensory tests.
  • Record/compile test results and prepare graphs for reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Food/Sensory Science, Experimental Psychology or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a sensory research is preferred. Or 3-4 years of experience in food and beverage industry, laboratory work.
  • Must have experience with data collection software (Compusense, FIZZ or SIMS).
  • Experience with power point and basic data analysis, is preferred.
  • Strong organizational ability with attention to detail.
  • Serve safe certification is a plus.
  • Ability to uphold food safety and food handling standards and participate in continuous process improvement on the job.
