Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Plant Hygienist
provides GMP, sanitation and pest control direction for the Itasca Site. This
position is responsible for the technical expertise and leadership in the
facility for food safety. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of
sanitation principles, methods, and technology. The individual will be
required to work with contacts both inside and outside the company to assure
the plant is aware of and continuously improves overall food safety. The
incumbent must constantly seek cost effective methods to meet all regulatory
and Nestle Sanitation standards. The scope will include site hygienic
engineering, HACCP programs, ISO 22000, food safety team, pest control
program, allergen control, foreign material control, and other food safety
1.Assure that a sanitation program is developed, implemented and maintained
to insure all products are manufactured in a sanitary and wholesome
environment. The sanitation program must include the facility environment
(internal and external) as well as the food processing and support equipment.
Ensure all SSOP validations (allergen and non-allergen) are completed and
current. Coordinate activities with Sanitation Supervisor to ensure consistent
use of program procedures. The program must comply with all sanitation and
environmental Regulatory requirements (Federal, State and Local) as well as
Nestle internal policies and procedures.
2.Maintain an Integrated Pest Management Program
that will provide and maintain a pest free environment. This position will be
the key contact with the outside pest control partner and with Division on
specific Pest control issues.
3.Maintain and make recommendations for improvement
to plant allergen and foreign material control programs. Monitor complaints
for trends and lead efforts to reduce/prevent foreign material complaints or
potential allergen issues.
4.Coordinate ongoing Plant Sanitation (based on
physical findings and environmental monitoring program results), foreign
material source and GMP inspection programs. Evaluate and follow up on
results and provide corrective action support and leadership to advance the
Facility in areas of Sanitation/GMP/Pest Control.
5.Review and provide proactive input on sanitary design/hygienic
engineering issues at the facility for existing and new processes as well as
the facility structure. The position is expected to help minimize the
sanitation issues and maximize cleaning capability on incoming and existing

7.Relieve sanitation supervisor and direct
activities of Hourly employees as needed. Manage any assigned employees or
outside contractors, to provide sanitary manufacturing environment and

9.Maintain the environmental monitoring program.
10.Represent the Site during Sanitation, Regulatory
and internal Sanitation/GMP inspections and audits.

the Sanitation Supervisor on Sanitation chemical applications and other

14.Perform additional duties as assigned

quality and food safety requirements and escalate quality or food safety
findings or incidents.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL:
Employee shall follow Nestlé-Itasca's safety & environmental objectives
& targets; follow the plant safety rules, report incidents & unsafe
conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to
the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures
Support the Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE) initiative through involvement
in team improvement activities, formal problem solving and Operational
Reviews as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
'Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Food Science/Technology, Food
Sanitation or comparable field required
'Prefer individual with AIB/ASI or some other professional GMP/Sanitation
'Prefer Illinois Pest Control License
'Minimum 5 years in Food Plant Sanitation
'Supervisory experience preferred
