Travel law solicitor Andrew Morton from Manchester law firm Pannone LLP, has confirmed that British holidaymakers returning from the Holiday Village Sarigerme in Turkey, have been diagnosed with salmonella poisoning.

Mr Morton’s law firm is now pursuing action against First Choice Travel for over one hundred people who contracted sickness and diarrhoea at the resort, many of them, including children, had to be hospitalised.

Andrew Morton from Pannone commented, “From all the reports coming out of the resort, we expect the number of cases to rise significantly over the next few days. Estimates put the figure of those affected at well over one thousand people.”

He also said, “Anyone returning to the UK from the Sarigerme Holiday Village who has been ill, should see their doctor immediately. They should also keep any evidence of having been ill, such as receipts for medicines purchased and hospital bills, plus the names and addresses of other tourists who may be able to confirm that they suffered from sickness at the Turkish resort. I would also urge them to seek legal advice from a specialist travel law solicitor.”

British holidaymakers who want to claim compensation have the benefit of powerful consumer legislation in the Package Travel Regulations 1992. These regulations allow people to claim for compensation against the tour operator in the UK, under UK law.

Andrew Morton specialises in no win, no fee holiday sickness and ruined holiday compensation claims including hotel food poisoning sickness and illness claims. Andrew Morton is a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, and the Travel and Tourism Lawyers Association.
