This person will provide primarily auditing, training and consulting services in various regions of Canada. This position places a primary focus on the delivery of Auditing Services.

The incumbent is accountable for contributing to the management of Food Safety & Quality Services and for furthering NSF-GFTC’s overall business goals and strategic objectives. Together with the Technical Manager, Audit Services, the incumbent is responsible for meeting the objectives laid out in the yearly business plan for their areas of responsibility.

Principal Accountabilities

Administration: 15%

  • Completes expense reports, timesheets and other administrative functions related to the job, including scheduling and follow up with clients.
    Accountability: Responsible for ensuring timely submission of required documentation.

Project Management: 75%

  • Conducts audits throughout the food supply chain, primarily in manufacturing.
    Accountability: Audits conducted in a timely and accurate manner upon request of clients and at NSF-GFTC targeted Gross Margins. This will be measured against personal goals and objectives including yearly minimal billable hours.
  • Carries out consulting/and or training projects in areas of Food Safety and Quality Management at the request of the Director, Training Services or the Director, Consulting & Technical Services.
    Accountabilities: Responsible for developing HACCP and other food safety and quality programs with clients. Responsible for general consulting & training on matters related to food safety and quality, including but not limited to: regulatory compliance, trouble shooting, etc. Projects are completed in a timely and accurate manner upon request of clients and meet NSF-GFTC targeted quality and financial requirements. This will be measured against personal goals and objectives including yearly minimal billable hours

Continuous Skills Improvement: 10%

  • Each employee is expected to work with management to continuously improve his or her job skills and to keep abreast of technical, regulatory, and market changes. The employee is expected to take an active role in seeking out courses, conferences and other training opportunities to keep their skills current and advance their state of knowledge. This will be facilitated through the yearly goal setting and review process.

General Responsibilities:

  • Record keeping: The incumbent is required to keep up-to-date and accurate written records of all project reports and communication with clients and potential clients. Ensures that personal work is accurately accounted for on weekly time sheets and submits expense reports at prescribed intervals.
    Accountability: Responsible for ensuring that all appropriate records are kept in an orderly manner.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum post secondary school degree in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of food safety and quality systems management, as well as project management, with the attainment of various industry certifications pertinent to those disciplines.
  • Detailed working knowledge of a variety food industry sectors and the various industry, government and associations interactions.
  • Skilled at writing reports and other forms of written communication.
  • Skilled at communicating through various forms such as phone, e-mail, training/education and executive meetings.
  • Skilled at working with and interacting with computer technology.

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility to work in a typical office or home office setting using office equipment such as phone, fax, computer.
