The Senior Manager I of Food Safety Operations Support assists with managing all food safety issues related to store and club operations within their designated area of a Walmart business unit and Sam's Club geographical region. This includes a broad range of responsibilities ranging from assisting with developing processes, standards, policies, and measurement systems and directing third party service providers to ensure our stores and clubs are operated in a safe and legal manner. This role can provide input on facility design and food work flow from a food safety standpoint as well as input on food equipment selection. The oversight of regulatory required food safety training within their area of responsibility also falls under this position's purvue. This position is also assists in managing and responding to incidents (alleged illnesses/injuries, foreign objects, and intentional food tampering) related to store/club prepared food products. Very importantly, the Senior Manager I must proactively stay abreast of current and emerging food safety issues and federal and state regulations and advise the company of needed risk management actions.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record (3 to 5 years) in food safety. Experience in a third party consulting firm or regulatory agency is also valid. He or she must have an in depth knowledge of HACCP, food recalls and withdrawals, food distibution channels, tracebility methods, emerging foodborne pathogens and state of the art control strategies. They must have a minimum of Bachelors degree in Food Microbiology, Food Science or related field. This person must have a good business acumen, high energy level, and effective communication and influence skills. He or she must be highly organized, analytical, and an excellent problem solver. This person must be a collaborator with experience in interacting with company and regulatory officials at all levels.

Graduate degree in Food Microbiology, Food Science or related field is desired. Global experience and familiarity with global standards are also beneficial.
