Sensory & Consumer Science Intern

McCormick & Company, Incorporated , a global leader in flavor, is seeking a Sensory & Consumer Science Intern in its Consumer Product Division (CPD) Headquarters, located at 211 Schilling Circle in Hunt Valley, MD. This internship will start in May or June 2013 and will run until December 2013. This is a full time position Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility with hours may be available. Note that this is a paid internship, but relocation and/or housing related expenses will not be covered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate daily sensory panels by setting up, cooking, serving, cleaning up, analyzing data, and writing reports Assist with large scale Central Location and Home Use Tests Attend focus groups and Consumer Advisory Groups to assist with note taking and report writing Conduct a long range research project in an area of mutual interest during the May-August timeframe– likely related to qualitative or consumer insights research Handle other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current enrollment as an undergraduate college Junior or Senior OR current enrollment in a relevant graduate program required High School Diploma or GED required Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Food Science, Sensory Science or Nutrition required Grade point average of 3.0 or better within major required Interest in quantitative, qualitative and/or consumer focused research required Successful completion of at least one sensory science related course and/or experience working in a sensory lab, required Excellent oral and written communication skills required Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required Ability to perform data analysis preferred Successful completion of at least one market research related course preferred Prior exposure to and/or familiarity with food science concepts preferred
