Job Summary and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by developing and maintaining technical resources to support Quality Assurance, Product Development and Supply Chain, by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and communicating those requirements through new policies and procedures, and by reviewing and obtaining Starbucks review for all packaging and labeling to ensure adherence to regulatory and legal requirements for all Tazo products. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.


Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains and makes improvements to part and bill of material creation process to ensure timely development and implementation of parts in the enterprise resource planning system. Creates new part numbers and bills of materials in the enterprise resource planning system and maintains current parts and bills of materials across all sites. Updates specifications to reflect part and bill of materials changes and makes journal entries in the enterprise resource planning system to document changes to products.
  • Maintains documentation through use of database to ensure appropriate document control.
  • Researches documentation needs and writes, edits, and updates content for assigned technical manuals and policy manuals or for the intranet website. Maintains and updates existing procedures and policies. Ensures content meets management standards and performs complex content management, design and development tasks. Provides usability testing of work instructions and documentation to ensure accurate, consistent, and usable content. Defines style guides and other standards across project teams.
  • Reviews new supplier and new product approval forms and works with quality assurance to assess status and make recommendations for approval to technical services manager. Maintains ingredient data files with regulatory, food safety and technical information and provides information about ingredients to regulatory, legal, quality assurance, product development and consumer inquiry as needed.
  • Stays current with new regulatory and labeling requirements and communicates these requirements throughout technical department. Develops policies and procedures to communicate new regulatory requirements throughout Tazo. Ensures requirements through development and maintenance of approval process that includes Tazo and Starbucks sign-off on all products, packaging and labeling. Maintains label and packaging archive files and ensures co-packers receive up-to-date labeling and packaging standards.
  • Works with research and development to create and maintain efficient new project development and implementation processes that ensures projects pass through technical services efficiently and successfully. Maintains and communicates prioritized project list weekly to management, including percentage of technical resource utilization.


Summary of Experience

  • Experience in any of the following areas: technical writing or editing; process analysis, documentation or training. (3 years)
  • Food regulatory or Food Law (3 years)
  • Quality assurance (3 years)

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
