SCOPE OF POSITION:   Provide Project support to Product Development team members for all aspects of the Product Development Process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assembly of food product or package components and/or models/prototypes for use in evaluating their properties through various methods including:  project team evaluation, sensory panels, shelf- life testing, and market research studies.  Maintain appropriate documentation.
• Preparation of facilities/equipment to support activity outlined above.
• Coordinate disassembly, sanitation, storage of equipment and clean up of facilities following activities described above.
• Maintain and track inventories of supplies.  Assure supplies are properly stored.  Contact suppliers, customer service and/or plants when necessary. 
• Food processing and preparation necessary to support product, process or packaging design efforts.
• Assist with product testing and product presentations, including periodic overnight travel.
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of food science, food processing methods and techniques, and current food industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to become proficient in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and other software specific to function.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to work in a cold environment.
• Self-motivated. 
• Desire to seek out new assignments and responsibilities.
• Ability to promote a cooperative work environment through teamwork both inside and outside the R&D organization.
• Maintain a positive attitude by seeking “how to” accomplish goals rather than dwelling on “why we can’t” accomplish them.
• Ability to allow free exchange with others both in conversation and written documents.
• Ability to build on rather than criticize other ideas.
• Ability to execute project with direction.
• Appreciation for and demonstration of the scientific method in work conducted.
• Ability to become proficient in the use typical laboratory and pilot equipment.

EDUCATION:

2 year degree a plus but not required.

EXPERIENCE

Five - seven years in a food or technical discipline such as nutrition, laboratory science, chemistry.

SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES:

• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work productively in a team environment
• Skills in collection, documentation and analysis of data.
• Appreciation for and demonstration of the scientific method in work conducted; attention to detail
• Good listening skills.
• Appreciation for and demonstration of food preparation and cooking methods.
