The
Senior Technical Food Microbiologist serves as a technical resource for
Nutritional Chemistry and Food Safety. This individual takes a lead role in
interfacing with clients specifically involving technical expertise problem
solving and business development activities. They also provide technical
assistance internally maintaining very high technical standards for
microbiological team. Responsibilies: Acts as primary scientific authority
for microbiological testing in Nutritional Chemistry and Food Safety.
Functional responsibility for a high volume microbiology testing
laboratory. Manages staff in the laboratory. Responsible for selecting
methodology and assuring appropriate techniques used for microbiological
testing in multiple food matrices. Responsible for financial performance
microbiological lab at the site. Consults with clients to determine
technical requirements and to suggest plans to accomplish these needs.
Assesses interest and feasibility of research projects requiring a high
degree of creativity and technical organization. Discusses technical
problems or scope changes with the client suggests solutions and actions to
solve assay problems. Monitors evaluates and reviews the scientific
performance of assays. Provides clients with periodic updates including
technical and time/cost issues. Performs scientific mentoring activities
e.g.; training study specific techniques assisting with complex analytical
work/problem solving. Education/Qualifications: PhD in Microbiology plus 5
years experience in the food industry; B.S. or M.S. in Microbiology plus
10-15 years experience in the food industry. Recognized expert in Food
Microbiology Experience in a high volume high throughput microbiology lab.
Experience developing or modifying microbiology methodology.
