Position Responsibilities:
|
Position Summary:
The position will assist in designing and assuring implementation of
corporate food safety and regulatory compliance policies for Sara Lee
products. The manager must know the potential microbiological, chemical,
and physical hazards in foods and is able to provide technical support
during innovation and product change meetings. They should have a good
knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations in the food industry and be familiar
with upcoming regulatory changes. They should communicate well with plant
personnel, product development teams, cross functional teams, and senior
management. This position should have the capability to provide technical
support to Supply Chain for implementation of policies & procedures,
and for the resolution of food safety and non-compliance issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Provides food safety technical support to Sara Lee Research &
Development teams including Marketing, and Supply Chain, during
product/process development and changes
* Act as a consultant for "food-safe" products and formulas
during cross-functional team meetings.
* Works collaboratively within a technical environment to develop,
validate, implement, and verify proactive food safety programs including
HACCP, prerequisite programs, and regulatory compliance policies for Sara
Lee plants.
* Designs and manages external microbiological research studies and routine
testing to support food safety programs.
* Keeps current with food safety technology to make recommendations for their
inclusion in manufacturing processes.
* Assists as a processing authority for resolution of HACCP issues within
manufacturing plants.
* Bachelor or Masters Degree in microbiology,
chemistry, food science, or food safety related field required.
* HACCP certification required.
* Minimum 1-5 years of experience in Food Safety/Quality Assurance with
food processor
* Prior experience in various food products processing and food safe
production is required.
* Understands regulatory requirements and safe food scientific practices
and is capable of applying these practices in different types of food
products.
* Position requires effective written and verbal communication skills with
cross functional teams and management.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations pertinent to the position is
critical.
* Plant level food safety and sanitation experience desired.
