Key Accountabilities

The DVP Innovation will is a highly qualified microbiologist focused on assuring that all new innovations and existing foods meet regulatory and ARYZTA requirements for food safety. The DVP will participate in innovation project meetings to assure food safety and quality and design and review appropriate microbiological research and testing to support shelf life, cooking instructions and serve as process authority for HACCP validations.


     Optimizes the food safety and quality review process for new innovation projects and assures safe innovation

     Assures a strong food safety culture within ARYZTA through microbiological training with Innovation, corporate FSQA, bakery leaders, and others

     Responsible for understanding all applicable food safety regulations (international, national, state, and local), assuring our foods meet regulations

     Trained on the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC, SQF) and assists locations with food safety questions for GFSI, third party audits, and customer audits

     Assures FSQA team responds accurately to customer food safety requests to preserve and enhance the image of the company as a competent supplier of safe foods exceeding their expectations

     Other duties may be assigned and FSQA DVP, Innovation is expected to effectively manage and execute changes

This position can be based out of Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Illinois, Swedesboro, New Jersey or Cayce, South Carolina.

Required Skills

     B.S. in Microbiology, Ph.D. preferred

     Competent food safety process authority to meet regulatory requirements

     Effective communication skills at all levels of organization

     Trained in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF

     Good writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills

     Be able to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines

Required Experience

     10+ years food industry experience and must have food safety experience with new foods
