Amarillo health officials have increased the
number of salmonella cases linked to the International House of Pancakes on Western Street to
16. The city first reported seven cases last Thursday.
The
IHOP at 2100 S. Western St.
closed around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17 after it learned its restaurant was tied to
another salmonella outbreak. It was the third time in as many months the
restaurant has closed while investigating the source of the food-borne illness.
The
ownership group says it will reopen after it gets the OK from the Amarillo
Environmental and Public Health departments, which are continuing to
investigate the outbreak and pinpoint a cause.
City
health officials ask anyone with symptoms of salmonella - diarrhea, fever,
nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps - to see a doctor.
