Food Safety Compliance Manager – Harrisburg, PA

Plans, coordinates and directs audit and improvement activity to assure compliance with industry food safety standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Formulates, maintains and documents quality control objectives complementary to corporate compliance policies and goals, which include ISO, HACCP, sanitation, allergen, GMP, and pest control and microbiological programs.

Conducts meetings with product assurance program personnel to establish and review program organizational policies, functions and operations ensuring compliance with Food Safety directives.

Serves as corporate representative to customers and certifying agencies during food safety audits.

Generates report-outs from customer visits, makes recommendations for corrective actions and provides follow-up documentation.  Investigates and assists in remediation as a result of audit findings.

Interprets and maintains quality audit programs associated with co-manufacturing accounts and outside registrars.

Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.  Serves as the leader of the Food Safety Committee.

Designs and implements auditing and inspection training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.  Oversees corrective actions identified regarding food safety. 

Coordinates and manages all activities relevant to third party and customer audits.  Generates formal responses to customer requests.

Initiates continuous improvement activities for the company, customers and suppliers.

Reviews technical publications, articles and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.

Fills in for QC Manager responsibilities as needed.

Required skills:


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Advanced knowledge and understanding of food safety programs.  Ability to generate reports and interpret complex statistical data.
