TITLE: Supervisor Public Health


DEPARTMENT: Compliance & Safety






Responsible for maintaining the database and tracking of all Public Health inspections including but not limited to foreign and domestic, port, consultative and internal sources. Will draft the corrective action statements for the agencies and retain the corrective action statements from ships based on inspection findings and follow up and work toward resolution of outstanding items or delayed resolution. Will verify compliance and liaise with various public health programs related to public health and safety issues.


REPORTS TO: Manager Public Health and Workplace Safety




  1. Maintain Public Health inspection database of foreign, domestic, consultative and internal and produce corrective action statements as needed.
  2. Perform evaluation of agency public health inspections to identify strengths or weaknesses across fleet operations for focused management corrective action.
  3. Conduct routine public health inspections and communicate findings to senior staff and the Seattle Corporate office for impact of corrective action effectiveness.
  4. Follow up and work toward resolution of outstanding items or delayed resolution of items due to capital expense limitations or dry dock schedules.
  5. Researches agency reporting requirements and verifies applicable compliance with jurisdictions as needed.
  6. Maintains Legionnaire report database for Public Health requirements.
  7. Maintains the Servsafe database and coordinate exams, proctors, testing and candidates records.
  8. Conducts disease outbreak investigations and writes reports on findings.
  9. Performs statistical analysis of outbreaks to identify cause and risk factors, trends, and evaluate the impact of corrective actions on changing future outcomes of disease.
  10. Verifies compliance with GI, respiratory prevention and other response protocols.
  11. Liaises with onboard senior staff and officers regarding outbreak prevention issues.
  12. Supports the Deputy Director Fleet Operations Training in the development and delivery of infectious and communicable disease training programs for fleet and department personnel.
  13. Assists the Manager Public Health and Safety as directed.





         Master of Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health, Statistics or a Bachelors degree in any of the following: Biology, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Nursing, Healthcare.

         Minimum 2 years experience in any of the areas: public health, healthcare, epidemiology, environmental health, occupational health, safety with some working statistical analysis ability

         Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills.

         Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

         Ability to work independently in the fleet

         Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
