We are looking for a dynamic leader to join our Worldwide Trade department as the Director of Food Safety. This is an exciting opportunity to own a highly visible project, managing food and over-the-counter (OTC) Product Safety, and be part of a vibrant and fast-growing company!

Key Responsibilities

  • Influence others and derive “win/win” solutions
  • Develop Best Practices for the receipt, storage, transportation and disposal of food and over-the-counter products
  • Communicate industry standards and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Leverage technology to drive process improvements
  • Create and deploy internal training of procedures
  • Develop sustainable processes to audit consumables safety
  • Create and monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness
  • Lead internal communication with Amazon’s grocery and drugstore retail teams, legal, fulfillment center operations and related technology teams
  • Assess market and business opportunities and define business and feature requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing Food Safety in a Retail environment
  • 10+ years of experience in Food Safety Program Management
  • 5+ years of people management within compliance/audit teams
  • Process Improvement experience in a lean organization
  • Demonstrated experience creating sustainable processes
  • Knowledge of government regulations (FDA, USDA)
  • Creativity and demonstrated leadership with superior analytical abilities
  • Ability to think lateral across multiple teams to craft efficient processes
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team, including adherence to core values and dynamic corporate culture
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or related advanced degree
  • Six Sigma experience/training
  • Highly analytical and data driven, able to see the big picture
  • Structured, precise, able to deal with complexity
  • Fast pace problem solver, sense of urgency, “walks the talk”
  • Adaptable, at ease in fast-changing environments
  • eCommerce experience
