Position Description
|
|
The Food Safety Coordinator will ensure all established C.
H. Robinson Central Produce (CHR-CP) specific and C. H. Robinson
corporate Food Safety protocols, practices, standard operating
procedures (SOPs) and training requirements are administered and
properly documented in all aspects of the Central Produce Lemont
Warehouse operation. The position will participate as an active
member of Central Produces Food Safety Committee and HACCP Team to
develop evaluate and monitor food safety policy on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities
|
|
- Monitor all personnel and business activities
total compliance with CHR Food Safety & Food Security/Defense
policies
- Ensure compliance with critical Food Safety compatibility
policies:
High-Risk Food Item Handling & Control (RTE, RTC)
Allergen Control
- Maintain and monitor all sanitation activities on the Master
Sanitation Schedule:
Review sanitation documentation daily for completeness and accuracy
Insure that appropriate materials and tools are available to perform
all activities
- Conduct Production staff new hire orientation training for all
CHR-CP Food Safety policies:
Provide ongoing Food Safety training on a quarterly (at minimum) basis
- Develop and maintain SSOPs for all Production, material
handling and facility support equipment, as well as physical facility
equipment, exterior and grounds
- Train Sanitation Crew members on all Sanitation Standard
Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
- Schedule and oversee any third-party audits of the Lemont
facility
- Act as primary point of contact for Lemont facilities customers
food safety related needs
- Maintain and monitor facility equipment Planned Maintenance
program:
Insure that all materials/supplies used in maintenance functions are
food grade/food safe
- Review maintenance records for Sanitation signoff on cleanup
for food contact readiness
- Conduct regularly scheduled Food Safety Program activities:
Mock Recalls
Chemical Inventory and Usage Tracking
Potable water testing
Microbial swabbing/testing of food contact surfaces
- Oversee product Shelf Life Sampling/Monitoring on all items
packed in-house
- Monitor Operations documentation and inventory transaction
accuracy for Country Of Origin Legislation (COOL) compliance
- Review all operations documentation for completeness and
accuracy
- Maintain control of all facility related food safety manuals,
logs, training documentation

Required Qualifications
|
|
- Must be able to take direction well and execute
assigned tasks
- Effective communication with multiple teams, emphasizing
urgency in resolving issues or concerns.
- Demonstrated strong, sound decision making capabilities
- 2-4 years of experience in the produce or a food related
industry
- Degree in Food Science or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of produce varieties, grades, conditions and
defects essential
- Prior experience with inspection testing procedures, techniques
and equipment mandatory
