Responsibilities:
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs food safety (good agricultural practices) and quality audits and
review of Dole Berry Company growing, harvesting and cooling operations.
Generate reports of the audits, analyze and make recommendations for
further improvements to mitigate food safety hazards in the growing,
harvesting, cooling and handling of products. Assist in the development and
implementation of on-farm food safety and quality programs including
training and development of manuals and programs. Implementation of total
Quality Assurance programs and procedures in the fields and coolers
including but not limited to evaluation and grading of the product based on
Company’s and customer’s specifications and provide feedback to necessary
groups. Working with the appropriate management personnel, this position
will also have some decision making latitude regarding the product being
inspected. Under the guidance of Manager Food Safety, execute projects that
meet the technical and business needs of the Company. Must follow all Food
Safety Requirements and cGMPs as applicable to position.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Ag Science; Post Harvest
Physiology, Food Science. Equivalent combination of education and
experience in Agriculture specifically dealing with food safety and quality
assurance will be considered.
SKILLS: 3-5 years in food industry, with 1-3 years in supervision, in a
quality assurance position. Must have knowledge of US EPA, US FDA and USDA
regulations and guidelines associated with growing, harvesting, packing,
handling and shipping of fruits and vegetables. Effectively communicate
scientific and technical information to both technical and non-technical
personnel. Experience in strawberry farming / cooling / field operations
desirable. Fluent in both English and Spanish, verbal and written
preferred.
OTHER: Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and
acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers,
understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept
constructive criticism. Must have valid CA Driver’s License; this position
is assigned a company vehicle to carry out job responsibilities. . Travel
to various ranch locations (Northern and Southern growing regions) to
assist with implementation of the programs
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Supervisory and training skills; working experience with Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMP), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), strong analytical and
problem solving skills required; knowledge of related Federal and State
regulations; competency in computer word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheet
(Excel).
