Full Time Food Safety LRQA Client Training Deliverer Job Specification – Trainer

Job overview

Experienced trainer or educator, with additional work experience in management system’s certification and/or performance verification, is needed to provide client training and education. Trainer will be home-based. Travel should be anticipated 50-75% of the time.

Applicant must have availability for induction and field training in near future, be able to then deliver unsupervised training in areas of specialization and competence from prepared lesson plans and have ability to support LRQA certification and/or verification services.

Job Responsibilities

Deliver client and internal training to adult learners using traditional and accelerated-learning techniques, largely in classroom settings but also through distance learning (E-learning) and blended / hybrid classes.

Execute pre-event, event and post-event activities as required by the training-product design specification, including: course familiarization, handling client questions, delivery of training in accordance with LRQA brand-value, and student assessment.

Within areas of specialization, develop new training products, from concept paper to session plans, including course content and training aids. Amend, revise or customize existing training products.

Comply with LRQA controls and procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards during training, assessment and/or verification assignments.

Carry out continuing professional development pertinent to the practice of training and the education of adult learners.

Identify business opportunities, advise clients on LR and LRQA services and forward any resulting leads.

Lead or participate in special projects.

Job Requirements


• Master’s Degree, from an accredited institution, in education, science, business administration, engineering or technology.
• The assessor should have the knowledge corresponding to a post-secondary education that includes general microbiology and general chemistry. The assessor shall also have the knowledge corresponding to a post-secondary education that includes courses in the food chain industry category in which they conduct Food Safety Management System audits.


• At least 5 years compensated experience as a professional or corporate trainer and/or university/college-level professor or adjunct faculty. Experience must include curricula development and student assessment.
• Certification from an accredited body as a lead management systems auditor, accompanied by at least 5 years experience in the certification or verification services industry.
• The assessor has a minimum of five years of full-time work experience in the food-chain-related industry, including at least two years of work in quality assurance or food safety functions within food production or manufacturing, retailing, inspection or enforcement, or the equivalent. The number of years of total work experience may be reduced by one year if the auditor has completed appropriate post-secondary education.
• Administrative experience, oral communication, writing and interpersonal skills, along with knowledge of diverse, constructive and effective teaching methods and group facilitation skills, to motivate adult learners and promote a stimulating learning environment.
• The assessor has successfully completed FSSC22000 / ISO22000 training.


• Computer literacy and the ability to assimilate new information technologies as needed. Familiarity with e-Education platforms (WebEx, Blackboard) is a plus.
