Job Description


Oversee, direct and manage the Plant Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Sanitation functions of a pasta production plant producing 300 million pounds annually. Provide day to day leadership and guidance to all plant personnel, ensuring highly disciplined compliance with all product, ingredient, manufacturing, laboratory and warehouse quality standards, company policies and regulatory requirements. Works with plant management and Corporate Quality to develop, implement and coordinate continuous improvement programs utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Statistical Process Control principles where applicable. This individual will be well versed to manage programs and conduct employee training that educates in the areas of Total Quality Management Systems, Food Safety, HACCP, Kosher, Organic, Regulatory Programs, Proper Sanitation Procedures, Microbial Controls and Pest Control Management. Excellent communication skills required, as this position will interact with manufacturing management, sales, corporate and customers on all quality and food safety related issues.


  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science or a similar science discipline.
  • At least 5 years Quality Management experience in the Foods Industry.
  • At least 3 years experience in Food Safety/Sanitation in the Foods Industry.
  • HACCP Certified with Knowledge of Kosher and GMP requirements.
  • Certified Pest Control Operator w/ Knowledge of Plant Fumigation Procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem solving skills.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Applications Training a plus.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage departmental labor and overheads, assisting in the development of budgetary requirements. Hire, train and motivate Quality Control and Food Safety/Sanitation personnel.
  • Manage resolution of customer complaints to include problem identification, product isolation, corrective action and preventative measures.
  • Leads third party AIB, Quality Assurance and Global Food Safety Audits. Represent company on inspections conducted by Regulatory, FDA and other governmental agencies.
  • Develop and maintain Master Sanitation Schedule and cleaning instructions of plant buildings and equipment, and implement inspection programs to ensure that standards are maintained.
  • Develop, monitor and revise HACCP plans as needed in accordance with company HACCP program.
  • Manage all qualitative and quantitative quality analysis, along with microbiological testing of company products and processing equipment.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting of Quality KPI’s.
  • Monitor incoming shipments of raw materials to ensure compliance to specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to Research and Development in developing, testing and documenting new and improved products.
