3M's Food Safety Department is seeking a Marketing Development Manager for the US Region with marketing experience in food safety market.
The position of Marketing Manager located in Maplewood, Minnesota will provide leadership and support to high priority projects in the Food Safety Department including the development of marketing programs focused on the food safety market. To ensure business objectives and strategic goals are met through the development, adoption and implementation of marketing strategies and plans to maximize current business opportunities and commercialize new business opportunities.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the three main areas:

Market Development & Planning:  Oversees development of market plan. Develops business plans for assigned product lines. Develops and executes major business programs involving product strategy, market strategy, pricing, distribution, communications and promotions to be included in the division's market/product plans as assigned.  Defines research outcomes necessary to support the market/product plan. Participates in strategic business plan development of operating unit and makes appropriate recommendations.  Attends Food Safety conferences, trade shows and seminars related to assigned market/product area.

Product Development:
   Identifies and recommends new business development opportunities for new and existing products, including analysis and interpretation of market segments, business trends and identification of customers' specific needs. Works with necessary disciplines to establish and manage product development process with appropriate management review.


P&L Management: Prepares sales, unit and/or pricing forecasts for assigned market/product area. Projects new product sales/profits. Prepares and allocates financial resources to programs/products within forecasted guidelines and regulates expenditures.

Competitive Analysis: Analyzes and interprets changing market/industry dynamics and trends to determine the effect on product lines. Develops and expands customer base by increasing knowledge of all facets of the marketplace, and analyzing competitive information and marketing intelligence.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum of three years of product marketing experience

Minimum of five years experience in sales, marketing, marketing development and/or business development



MBA or a Masters in Marketing

Experience in the food safety or food science industry

Experience growing and launching new and existing products in underdeveloped and new territories

A minimum of three years of marketing experience in pathogen testing products preferred
