Description
Overview:
Responsible for new product development, quality assurance and continuous
improvement of products marketed under Save-A-Lots private label portfolio.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures Save-A-Lots private label products remain competitive with
National brands by maintaining ongoing product evaluations and continuous
improvement processes.
Works with a cross-functional team of marketing, packaging, sourcing,
quality assurance, and product development to develop new products, improve
existing products and market the brand to consumers.
Acts as technical liaison to manufacturing partners to ensure product
specification, formulation and quality expectations.
Maintains an understanding of new manufacturing technologies that can
provide Save-A-Lot with a competitive advantage.
Creates detailed product specifications for each of Save-A-Lots branded
products.
Maintains product specifications and associated private label product
documentation
Manages consumer product testing when applicable
Advises and directs internal and external customers on quality and
technical matters affecting products.
Prepares, conducts and reports informal and formal cuttings for product
performance testing and evaluations.
Ensures Save-A-Lots packaging and labeling meets all pertinent regulatory
statutes.
Reviews and ensures food and non-food safety and performance data.
Establishes, manages, and maintains process development and relationships
with manufacturers.
Ensures that preparation instructions and usage instructions are accurate.
Generates consumer recipes to support private label product packaging and
social media
Monitors and responds to consumer product recalls as needed
Provides and completes regulatory information for packaging (NLEA, claims
substantiation, etc.)
Other applicable duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in food science/technology, Culinology
or equivalent technical food work experience required
2 to 6 years of packaged goods product development experience in the food
industry
Culinary production experience preferred
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Well-developed palate
Well organized
Proactive and innovative
Strong sense of urgency
Experience with Microsoft Office required
Valid drivers license
