Senior Manager, Food Safety - Downers Grove, IL

Position Summary:

 

Assist in designing and assuring implementation of corporate food safety and regulatory compliance policies for all USDA-regulated meat plants.  Implement and manage HACCP programs for all USDA-regulated meat plants. Provide technical support to Supply Chain for implementation of policies & procedures, resolution of food safety and non-compliance issues. Provide technical support to other depts. in resolving consumer and customer inquiries regarding food safety.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage food safety and regulatory compliance policies for all USDA-regulated meat plants
  • Assist in the design, implementation and audit of HACCP systems for USDA-regulated meat plants
  • Manage the development and maintenance of food safety and regulatory compliance procedures and provide technical assistance to Supply Chain for implementation and for troubleshooting/resolution of food safety incidents.
  • Support external & internal food safety audit program performing audits, verifying corrective action plans, setting goals for improvement and tracking performance against goals.
  • Provide food safety technical support to Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Logistics and Consumer Affairs.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related field Required.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • HACCP certification required.
  • Minimum five years functional experience required.
  • Experience in food safety with food processor, including management level experience required.
  • Prior experience in development, training and auditing of HACCP plans, sanitation programs, and regulatory compliance required.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective computer skills.
  • Plant level food safety and sanitation experience desired.
  • Pest Control Operator license desirable.
