Azad Jammu and Kashmir
(AJK) President Raja Zulqarnain Khan has
visited District Headquarters Hospital Bhimbher
to inquire about hundreds of the victims of food poisoning.
On the occasion, the officials told the president that still 98 victims
of food poisoning were admitted to the hospital, besides dozens of other
similar outdoor patients. The president met the patients individually and
prayed for their early recovery. He directed the hospital management for
dispensation of proper healthcare to avert threat of any casualty. Khan
also directed the district administration to ensure supply of quality
edibles to consumers. He also directed the authorities concerned to take
action against businessmen involved in sale of substandard foodstuffs.
Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Director-General, Health
Services, Dr Qurban Mir said in a press
statement that 98 people suffering from food poisoning were still
admitted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Bhimbher
where emergency had been declared. However, he said, the situation was
under control and no casualty had been reported so far. “Special medical
teams have also been summoned from Mirpur District Hospital
to assist local doctors and extend treatment to the patients,” he said.

2, complaining of vomiting, diarrhoea and
high-grade fever after eating burger prepared by a local bakery. He said
on the first day 134 patients were admitted and 30 of them were
discharged, while 68 patients were brought to the hospital next day. nni
