This position is responsible for Product Development
formulation bench work, conducting prototype samples, pilot preparation,
performing flavor work including cost impact, conducting sensory panels,
aspects of product formulation and label claim evaluation as directed by
upper Product Development Management.

•Perform bench preparation of prototypes and pilots with
supervision.
•Make adjustments to formulas in Excel and on the bench and evaluate impact
to product cost.
•Conduct sensory evaluations with supervision.
•Set up shelf life evaluations as specified.
•Ensure raw materials meet Metagenics
specifications.
•Communicate with suppliers regarding specified requests.
•Evaluate aspects of product label claims.
•Support filling of Product Requests to the Clinic as directed by upper
Product Development management.
•Access information in Metagenics Inventory
System (Finesse) on an as needed basis.
•Access information in Genesis nutritional software as projects require.
•Communicate with Purchasing, QC and Manufacturing regarding specific
issues as directed by upper Product Development management.
•Order lab supplies; support general laboratory upkeep and organization.
•Receive and log incoming and outgoing samples
Contacts and Relationships:
•Internal- Manufacturing, QA/QC, Purchasing
•External- Suppliers as specified
Accountability:
•Directly to the Manager of Product Development
Experience/Training/Education:
•Bachelors Degree in Food Science or related
field
•0-2 years experience.
Knowledge Of:
•Formulation knowledge preferred.
•Experience performing flavor and product improvements on the bench
preferred.
•Experience conducting sensory panels preferred
•Familiarity preparing bench prototypes preferred
Skills/Abilities:
•Competency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Access.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
•Flexibility to handle various tasks and projects simultaneously and
deliver promptly to timelines.
•Ability to meet flavor work and prototypes deadlines.
