Responsibilities:

         Conduct toxicity and endocrinology risk assessments on coating materials for food contact packaging.

         Determine the appropriate literature searching and in-vitro/in-vivo testing and risk assessment approach that is required for regulatory approvals in all regions of the world

         Coordinate project deliverables with consultants and third party laboratories to optimize the rates of speed and approval success.

         Work with regulatory authorities worldwide to facilitate timely approvals of food contact packaging coatings.

         Work with appropriate trade associations and expert groups to inform the development of regulations and contribute to the risk assessment process for common chemicals/products.

         Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and present clear interpretations of the toxicology and endocrinology profiles of platform technology candidates.

 

Qualifications:

         Graduate degree in Toxicology or related field: biomedical or pharmacology sciences, forensic science, analytical chemistry.  Ph.D. preferred.

         B.S. required; Toxicology, Chemistry or Biology. Advanced degree preferred.

         Must have American Board of Toxicology Certification.

         3-5 years minimum industry experience.

         Strong knowledge of related regulatory approval processes (FDA, Office of Food Additive Safety); ideal candidate has worked inside the agency for a period and/or food industry dealing with regulatory agencies.

         Possess sound scientific background, with organized and methodical approach to work.

         Must be familiar with all the practices, principles and applications of toxicology, including endocrinology.

         Must understand the applications involved in industrial chemistry and have the ability to administer and understand a variety of tests on different chemical substances.

         Possess excellent problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.

         Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and possess a high degree of self-motivation.

         Ability to collect and analyze large amounts of experimental data.
