Job Description:
The Department of Chemistry and Food Science at Framingham State University
invites applications for a tenure track position in Food Science with a
strong emphasis in chemistry or biochemistry to join our department of eight
full time faculty members. The Department is ACS approved with an IFT-modeled
food science curriculum. Appointments may be at the assistant or associate
professor level, depending on qualifications and experience; academic and/or
industrial experience is welcome. The position will commence on September 1,
2011.
Requirements:
The department seeks enthusiastic candidates who are expected to have a Ph.D.
by September 2011; preference will be given to individuals with an
interdisciplinary competence in chemistry or biochemistry and food science.
The individual is expected to teach courses which may include the following
topics: food processing and engineering, food analysis, and food chemistry.
Additional duties may include lectures and laboratory supervision of
introductory courses as well as upper level courses in an area of expertise.
In addition to possessing a strong commitment to teaching excellence,
research with undergraduate and graduate students (Masters only in Food and
Nutrition) is expected. The department houses a well-equipped food pilot
plant and state-of-the-art instrumentation such as a spray dryer, bench scale
extruder, HTST pasteurizer, freeze drier, texture analyzer, 400 MHz NMR, and
an LC-MS.

This position is contingent upon funding for academic year 2010/2011.
