The SAIC Engineering and
Infrastructure (E&I) Business Unit curretnly has
an opening for a Food Safety Public Health Scientist. This position
provides direct support to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service
(FSIS).
The candidate will provide technical support to variety of projects related
to examining the role of microbial pathogens in foodborne
illness, including the use of sampling data in the calculation of
performance measures and the role of predictive analytics in improving
FSIS’ ability to protect public health. The candidate should be familiar
with FSIS’ work in disease attribution for Escherichia coli O157:H7,
Salmonella spp., and Listeria monocytogenes in
meat and poultry food products.
The candidate will also support ad hoc requests for other food safety and
food defense projects that require expertise in public health and/or
toxicology.
The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior food safety public health experience is also desired.
Position Location: Flexible- can work remotely
Required Experience/Education:
- Masters or Ph.D. in related field
- 2-3 years of experience working in food safety or a related public health
field.
