Job Description: General Mills is seeking a Food Editor. This position will help the Betty Crocker Kitchens organization provide food thought leadership to our brands, content platforms, external media and consumers via food trend knowledge, culinary expertise, creation of food ideas and “story,” marketing strategy influence, and public relations/spokesperson opportunities.


In this role you will:

• Create on-trend, talkable, shareable food ideas that support General Mills brands and business strategies

• Leverages food trends/food culture knowledge to influence brand marketing strategies

• Articulates a strong, clear point of view on food verbally and in writing (e.g. blogs)

• Partners with and influences editorial strategy for our owned digital/social content platforms, serving as lead food editor for 1 or more platforms

• Serves as a spokesperson for brand or platform public relations & media opportunities, including food demonstrations for national and local media

• Serves as on-camera talent for brand or platform recipe "how to" videos

• Assists with marketing strategy, content creation and execution of portfolio-wide "tentpole" food content marketing campaigns across our owned digital/social content platforms as well as with influential media

• Assists with strategy and execution of Betty Crocker Kitchens thought leadership initiatives

• Participates in and leverages relationships with organizations and personalities in local and national food culture



Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelors degree in Communications, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, Food Science, or Foods and Nutrition

-2 years, 5 preferred of test kitchen experience or related experience


Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong food knowledge, including experience in a test kitchen or related area

• Strong communication skills, including business presentations and food writing/blogging

• Experience on-camera or with public appearances (including food demonstrations and/or interviews)

• Project management & organizational skills

• Passion for food and food content

• Able to create on-trend, talkable, shareable food ideas and marketing "stories" that support General Mills brands and business strategies

• Strong external focus - understanding of & curiosity about food trends

• Confident in articulating a point of view & able to wield influence

• Interest in food ideas beyond the recipe - photography, visual recipes, etc.

• Collaborative; able to build relationships

• Active follower of food media (shows, publications, websites, podcasts, etc)

• Actively involved in digital/social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, blogs, etc)

• Actively involved in local & national food organizations

• Comfortable with ambiguity
