our World Headquarter Office located in Buffalo, New York. However, 50%
travel will be required throughout our North American and International

The Food Safety Manager will build and sustain a culture of food safety by
leading with behaviors that promote cultural change through outstanding team
based associate relationships and serving as the primary food safety and sanitation
resource
To provide leadership, expertise and comprehensive value added technical
support in the areas of food safety and sanitation
To drive all food safety standards throughout the organization through the
development and implementation of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory
compliance policies and procedures.
The QA & Food Safety manager primary focus is on holistic food safety and
quality processes/systems across all RPC North America & Internationally
as we continue to pursue our global quality initiatives. The QA & Food
Safety manager will lead all internal audits to ensure compliance to RPC QA
policies. The QA & Food Safety manager will provide support to all North
American RPC suppliers and co-packers to ensure food safety & compliance
to all local, state and federal regulations.
Serve as the primary resource for food safety and sanitation by providing
leadership and comprehensive technical support to all manufacturing
facilities, distribution centers, co-packers and vendors
Drive compliance with customers' requirements (BRC, AIB Inspectors, etc.)
Advise management on crisis prevention, risk management and regulatory
compliance as it relates to food safety and sanitation
Provide relevant support to the areas of product development, innovation and
retail operations
Establish food safety training programs for associates (HACCP, GMP, Allergen
Control, lot traceability, associate food safety, etc.)
Develop selection criteria for private label vendors and a system to monitor
their food safety practices
Ensure consistent adherence to documented regulatory, corporate and location
regulations, standards & practices.
Collaborate with Finance, Legal and Operations departments to minimize risk
and liability expenses
Work with other Shared Service groups to further process improvement,
communication, and facility cohesiveness
Establish food safety best practices and implement throughout each facility
Design, develop and implement Safe Quality Food Systems (SQF)
Act as liaison with Food and Drug Regulatory agencies
Keep abreast of emerging issues and all federal, state and local regulations
' develop strategic thinking relative to current and changing legislation
Conduct risk based Food Safety/Sanitation and Quality Systems audits for all
facilities, co-packers, DC's, and vendors
Review and monitor the progress of the corrective actions for all audit
deficiencies
Identify trends in insufficient regulatory compliance within each of the
facilities ' recommend training when necessary
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
QA policies ' continuously strengthen RPC QA policies to ensure compliance to
federal regulations. Lead annual (internal) QMS audits of RPC production
facilities to ensure compliance to RPC QA policies.
Ensure linkage between BRC food safety audit scheme compliance and RPC QMS.
Provide technical support for North America & International ' T&I and
VAB respectively.
Focused oversight of all NA co-packers. Initiate a risked based QMS audit
program to ensure effective food safety systems. Oversee NPD (per product
food safety / quality) at co-packer.
Provide RPC information pertaining to changes in US or International
regulatory environment through active participation in industry working
groups.
What
do I need to be considered a candidate?
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, or related field
8-12 years experience in quality and food safety systems,
Minimum of 4 years experience in a leadership role
Knowledge of HACCP and formal auditing experience
Specialized certifications (American Society for Quality, Certified Quality
Manager, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor) a plus
Established SQF certification in an organization
Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations, AIB, BRC standards, and
major customer requirements
Ability to work effectively both in a geographically close and distant team
environments; strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
The physical capabilities an associate must have to perform the essential
functions of this position are:
Ability to conduct visual inspections.
Ability to physically travel interstate and internationally about 50% of the
time.
Ability to climb ladders and enter confined spaces.
Ability to drive a car in order to reach any of our manufacturing facilities
during and after working hours.
