On behalf of innovative, established grower/shipper/processor based in Salinas Valley, CA, we are seeking qualfiied candidates for the position of Director of Food Safety. Summary of this role includes (but is not limited to): Responsible for all food safety, quality assurance, organic compliance, regulatory compliance and product development. Member of senior management steering committee. Strategic planning. Create new product concepts, lead technical aspects of all development. Responsible for all food safety programs including plants, fields, harvesting and coolers. This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for complete benefit package.
The successful candidate will have a four-year degree in food science or related field; eight years experience in produce industry, with emphasis on food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance. Ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, helpful, self disciplined, and well organized. This challenging position requires knowledge of federal and state regulations, USDA GAP standards and major customer requirements; an understanding of Global-GAP, GFSI, and HACCP concepts and structure; previous auditing and training experience; Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful but not a requirement; strong interpersonal and communication skills and must be computer literate. Some travel, locally; with occasional overnight travel.
