Description

Major Food company in East Hanover, NJ is seeking a full time consultant to assist with the administration of the Kosher Certification process. 

 

Job Description:  

Under the supervision of the Kosher Staff:

  1. Use the various specification systems, both independently and via routings, to gather and confirm documentation required for kosher and halal applications to various agencies.
  2. Interact with vendors in order to obtain kosher and halal letters of certificate relevant to the product certification.
  3. Prepare and submit applications to kosher and halal certifying agencies.
  4. With Supervision, resolve issues or discrepancies regarding the formula or manufacturing location in order to facilitate the kosher and halal certification.
  5. Accomplish all the above according to the time line of the project.
  6. With supervision, properly mark the specification documents with kosher and halal status, distribute the certification information to the groups involved on time and with clarity.
  7. Interact with R&D, Marketing and other functional groups regarding new product launches and formula changes in existing products.
  8. Gather and assemble from these groups the information and documentation required for kosher and halal certification of new and existing products.

Requirements

 

  1. Bachelors Degree in Science related field.  Preferably Food Science, Biology, Chemistry etc.
  2. Excellent computer skills.  Specifically Microsoft Office with deep knowledge of Excel.
  3. Experience with database applications, relevant to existing and newly developing specification systems.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Outgoing and confident personality.  This candidate must be able conduct a personable, friendly and constant verbal communication with outside parties.  This is not an email only position, candidate must be comfortable speaking often and warmly with kosher agencies.
  6. Candidate must be able to comfortably embrace the traditions and concepts of various ethnic groups, relevant to kosher and halal food laws.
  7. This candidate must be able to establish and maintain a close and trusting relationship with kosher and halal agency partners.
  8. Candidate must be able and willing to learn the complex kosher and halal food law and relate those to the realities and capabilities of food manufacturing.

* Salary is commensurate with experience
