Description:
Major
responsibilities: The
Program Manager ensures attainment of product and business goals by
developing and driving project plans, leading tradeoff decisions, negotiating
for resources, and by actively coordinating cross-functional activity within
established project timelines and budgets. Focus will be on product
life-cycle management and product commercialization of both regulated and
non-regulated products supporting the Animal Health, Food Safety and related
Industrial Testing applied sciences industries. Act as a process steward and
mentor for project team members related to our Product Commercialization
Process (PCP), to assure alignment with quality standards and regulatory
requirements.
· Manage all phases of product commercialization:
coordinate resolution to quality and support issues, program costs and
scheduling, raising and addressing budget and scheduling issues appropriately
when resource conflicts arise. · Develop and aggressively drive overall program
timelines and budgets in coordination with other departments/teams. · Act as the key communicator and point of contact
related to your projects: act as a liaison to relay critical information
between departments/teams involved in the product development process to
maintain project progress according to plan, and play a critical role in
communicating project status to senior management within and outside the
business groups. · Develop and manage business contingency plans and
manage business implications of identified risks. Partner cross-functionally
to remove obstacles. · Partner with Product Management and field staff to
execute worldwide launch plans; facilitate transfer to manufacturing, ensure
successful completion of validation, facilitate world-wide training and
supporting planning and completion. · Partner with R&D, and potentially external 3rd
party service and product providers, to drive the innovation needed to assure
a competitive market position and differentiation in the market. · Obtain detailed product specifications and resource
allocations from appropriate functional groups for incorporation into the
larger program scope.
Strong
leadership skills particularly the ability to set goals & objectives and
influence stakeholders in other functions over whom the Program Manager has
no direct managing authority. The candidate must be a highly motivated and
results oriented, able to complete tasks by leveraging relationships and
establishing clear alignment goals.
· Experienced and skilled in all phases of a project,
with emphasis in initiating/planning to assure solid plans are in place. · Proven track record in identifying improvement needs
and proactively developing action plans to address. · Experienced using standard project management tools,
like MS Project and effective in actively monitoring project execution to
assure meeting on-time and on-scope targets. · Analytic skills, especially the ability to generate
alternative solutions and manage risk by driving criteria for trade-off
decisions, are key for this role. · Experienced in managing large and small
multi-disciplinary projects. · May manage more than one project at a time and must be
able to balance and multi-task accordingly. · Exceptional communication skills including relationship
building, conflict resolution, and presentation; able to convey critical
needs and milestones across all stakeholders in a timely manner. · Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a complex, matrixed environment.
· Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.)
minimum, preferably in a scientific discipline (e.g. biology, chemistry,
engineering). · Minimum of 5 years of program management & product
development, preferably in life sciences/biotechnology. · Demonstrated project management best practice
experience and stage-gate product development process experience. · Although PMP certification is highly valued,
demonstrated competency and experience is more important. Life
