Jump in suspected E. coli cases in outbreak in North Bay, Ont.

NORTH BAY, Ont. — The number of suspected cases in an E. coli outbreak stemming from a Harvey's restaurant in North Bay, Ont., has jumped dramatically.

Health officials said Wednesday there are a total of 190 cases, up from 158 reported Tuesday.

Of the total cases, 36 were confirmed through laboratory testing.

The 190 cases involve eight Ontario health units and one case in Quebec.

Almost all patients - ranging from a baby to the elderly - are recovering at home.

Health officials shut down the popular Harvey's on Oct. 12 after making a link to the outbreak.
