SUMMARY:
?
        The Quality Services Technician is responsible for defining, developing and implementing innovative solutions to address product quality, process efficiency, package reliability, quality management or operational conformance issues. As an R&D resource, this position requires project management and team leadership skills, and must work closely with Product Development, Process Development, Supply, Maintenance, Engineering and Commercial to identify the most effective solutions which yield consistently high levels of food safety and quality.

        Another facet of this position is to keep abreast of new technologies and global initiatives to assure the consideration and transfer of the most up to date processes, methodologies, and techniques.
 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
?
        Design, schedule, communicate, perform and report on plant testing for new recipes, products, processes, line extensions, qualification of new raw materials and vendors, as well as validation of new equipment and packaging material.
?
        Design, develop, and implement site based Quality Systems to assess compliance of new products, processes and packaging to Product Specifications.
?        Develop and implement innovative systems to drive continuous improvements and Consumer Relevant Quality.
?        Facilitate and document Risk Assessment/ HACCP process for all new products, process and packaging in accordance with Mars US and regulatory requirements.
?
        Facilitate /lead Site Activity management team in reviewing, responding and implementing approved business changes.
?
        Have working knowledge of thermal processes of wet pet food products cooked in cans, flexible tubs and pouches. Evaluation and disposition of thermal process deviations and   conducting heat penetration trials may be required.
?
        Provides technical support to resolve product, process and packaging issues.
?
        Improve quality and profitability through innovation, effective change management, research and experimentation.
?
        Maintain current recipe database system and verify new recipe accuracy prior to implementation.  Approves and communicates appropriate CRC's (controlled recipe Changes).
?
        Verifies process conformance to specification by designing process capability audits and analyzing results using statistical tools.
?
        Quality Services representative to project and CVS teams where they are accountable for safeguarding food safety and product quality.
 
         
OPERATING ENVIRONMENT AND GUIDANCE:
?
        This position reports into the Site Quality Manager, and is a critical interface between Supply, Commercial, and Engineering. This position will utilize statistical methods, established standard quality /analytical references, and use Corporate Principles along with a technical background to accomplish established goals and objectives.

?        Working knowledge of Food Science, Food Safety, Thermal process, Regulatory, and Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP), ISO, Regulatory Guidelines, Sensory evaluation and Microbiology

 

?        Strong project management, prioritizing and planning skills, with proven ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.

?        Ability and aptitude to work in an R&D, Manufacturing, and/or Distribution environment.

?        Able to travel up to 20%.

 

?        Ability to work different schedules as needed for testing and projects.

 

?        Ability to lift up to 25 kgs.

 

?        Ability to work in a wet pet factory environment with noise, dust, raw meats, odors etc.

 

 

 

 

 

B.     Education

 

 

 

?        A Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Food Processing, Chemical Engineering or other science discipline.

 

?        1 to 3 years experience in a Quality or Manufacturing oriented role is preferred.
