Description/Job Summary

Develop and lead quality programs, ensure adherence to food safety programs, and positively promote personal safety through leadership and by example.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Directly manage Quality Control Technicians to ensure smooth daily operation of the QC laboratory - raw material and finished product testing and release, and management of nonconforming materials and products.
  • Provide input into programs and training to plant personnel in the following programs:
  • HACCP and Prerequisite Programs
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Allergen Control
  • Food Security Program
  • Control of Non-conformance
  • Internal Audits
  • Corrective/Preventative Actions
  • Customer Complaints
  • Document and follow up on internal inspections
  • Release raw materials and finished goods
  • Perform finished product and ingredient testing as required
  • Ensure ingredient and finished product meet specifications
  • Investigate customer quality complaints
  • Aid in resolutions for internal and external audits
  • Lead or participate in special projects as required
  • Monitor and report metrics for Quality KPI's
  • Required Skills
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Microbiology preferred, with 5 to 10 years food industry experience
    • Must be persuasive, willing to take initiative, and possess adaptability and communication skills necessary for success in this position
    • Excellent computer skills
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Self-motivated
    • Experience in root cause analysis
    • Ability to build good relationships with internal peers, customer service and sales
