Position in Food Science with Concentration in Food Microbiology
Department of Food and Nutrition

We are seeking a dynamic, creative individual with expertise in food science
and food microbiology to assist us with the implementation of innovative food
science and nutrition programs.
Screening Begins: Screening of candidates will begin February 2, 2009 and
will continue through March 2, 2009.
Starting Date: Candidate must begin work on August 31, 2009.
Salary and Rank: Competitive and dependent upon academic preparation and

Responsibilities: Effective teaching of undergraduate and graduate students.
Courses will focus on the area of food science and food microbiology. Courses
include but are not limited to: food science, advanced food science, advanced
experimental foods, food microbiology, food quality, food preservation, food
technology, and food product development. Design and deliver innovative
curricular strategies utilizing digital learning. Additional responsibilities
include research, thesis supervision, advisement of undergraduate and
graduate students, and professional service.
Qualifications: Requirements are: an earned doctorate in food science with an
advanced degree having a concentration in food microbiology from an
accredited degree-granting institution; university teaching, and research
experience in food science and food microbiology; and membership in a
national food science-related professional organization. Grantsmanship
and student mentoring experience are preferred.
Department: The Department of Food and Nutrition is responsible for
administering the undergraduate program in Food Systems & Technology with
concentrations in Food Science; Food Communications; Food Systems Management;
Food Packaging, and Food Merchandising and Distribution. The department also
administers a program in Dietetics, and a Master's level prepared internship
and graduate program in Food and Nutritional Sciences. The Evelyn Van Donk Steenbock Endowed Chair
and the Center for Nutrition Education are housed in the Department of Food
and Nutrition.

east of Minneapolis-St. Paul on Interstate 94. Located in the scenic Chippewa
