Job Description

Position Summary

Supports the development and execution of multiple project activities that allow for the successful introduction of products with minimal supervision.

Core Accountabilities

Executes projects and experimentation

Supports new product concepts and prototypes including all stages of bench product development with minimal supervision.
Prepares bench top prototypes to meet agreed upon project timeline.
Prioritizes project activities in conjunction with immediate supervisor.

Supports pilot line trials

Documents work and results in lab book.
Provides results, recommendations, and changes to plan to immediate supervisor.
Evaluates new raw materials.
Support packaging activities for approval of product packaging material, size, labeling and regulatory requirements.
Conducts accelerate shelf life testing for final prototypes and reports results to supervisor.
Conducts and report sensory testing.

Executes experiments following SOPs

Assists with statistical analysis.
Apprises immediate supervisor of results.
Executes analytical tests.
Apprises immediate supervisor of additional project requirements during project execution.
Coordinates plant scale tests
Prepares written outline of test objectives or line test request document with guidance from supervisor.
Prepares necessary ingredients for plant scale test.
Sets up and participates in meeting with plant representatives.
Communicates objectives, special needs, accepts/rejects criteria to plant representatives.
Oversees pilot/plant scale tests.
Responsible for assuring that test objectives are met.
Prepares written assessment of plant scale test proceedings and results.
Assists in process optimization projects and problem resolution with Technical Services, Operations, Engineering, QA and other departments as assigned.
Works with current and potential vendors/customers.
Assists Sales and Marketing in developing and delivering effective customer presentations.
Provides technical support to Sales and Marketing in identifying new product opportunities and coordinating product presentations for both internal and external customers.
Coordinates raw material sourcing, evaluation and improvement activities with suppliers.

Position requires 15-20% travel.


B.S. Degree in Food Science, plus one (1) year food industry experience in R&D or M.S. Degree in Food Science
