Major Duties:

This position is the focal point within FDA to who headquarters and

field service may turn for authoritative guidance and consultation

regarding inspectional and investigational methods are procedures

necessary to accomplish compliance objectives and enforcement.


If selected for this position, you will:


- Participate as a subject matter specialist in the onsite


of field activities. Identify areas which warrant further study or

improvement and prepare reports to ensure optimum operating

efficiency and resource utilization;


- Develop indicators to provide objective evidence of the

effectiveness of quality procedures and control;


- Review special and unusual problems submitted by various

Center/Offices and provide authoritative guidance to resolve the

issues causing the problems. Such issues frequently deal with

interpretation of law, policy and procedures; and


- Design district studies, training programs and strategies for

identifying opportunities to improve customer service and process




Education Statement - Individual Occupation Requirement:

Basic Requirement:


Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a

combination of the following: biological sciences, chemistry,

pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical

science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, or

related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related

to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours can include

up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included

the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or

computer programming,




Combination of education and experience--courses consisting of at

least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in A above,

plus appropriate experience or additional education.






Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills,

and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To

be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to

at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Government.


Examples of specialized experience is the ability to advise others

in the application of Agency rules, regulations, and procedures.


You must meet citizenship and all other qualification requirements
