Major Duties:
The position serves as a Food Safety Specialist in the Food Safety Unit for the Special Nutrition Programs. The position performs a variety of duties in support of the Food Safety Unit, including evaluating current food safety issues and making recommendations for the prevention of future food safety issues.

Specialized Experience:

 

For the GS-11 level: Fifty-two weeks of experience at the GS-09 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes researching food safety issues sufficient to respond to questions or complaints, making recommendations for action related to food safety issues, and researching agricultural production issues as they apply to food safety.

 

For the GS-12 level: Fifty-two weeks of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes researching food safety issues sufficient to respond to questions or complaints, identifying food safety issues and making recommendations for corrective action, researching and analyzing agricultural production issues to apply the information to food safety concerns.

 

OR

 

Education: For the GS-11 level: Completion of 3 full academic years of progressively higher graduate level education or hold a LL.M., or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related fields, such as Nutrition, Biology, Health Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, or Agriculture.
