Description :


This position is responsible for managing the process of developing packaging specifications for all new or revised products using strategic supplier partners as a key resource.



Coordinates and conducts feasibility studies of equipment and material requirements for use in manufacturing and through our distribution system.

Works with other department members to resolve quality issues as they occur.

Assists in the evaluation of potential suppliers.

Develops packaging specifications for new products and revisions to existing products.

Establishes and performs tests which simulate our manufacturing and distribution environment.

Maintains a history of test performance and packaging specification development.

Monitors packaging material and equipment performance through investigation of complaints, material/machine testing, shelf-life studies and shipping tests.

Guides, motivates and maintains a training system to develop technical and management skills for subordinates.

Works closely with packaging engineer in all phases specifications, machine capabilities and production requirements.

Works with packaging suppliers to correct problems.

Assists the technical groups in evaluating food safety and shelf life issues as they relate to packaging.

Works with suppliers to acquire sample packaging or equipment information.

Maintains a close working relationship with all departments including manufacturing, sales, marketing, purchasing, R & D, quality and distribution.

Assists other department members and operations in resolving quality or equipment issues.



Education: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Engineering, closely- related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Years of Related Experience: 7-9 years related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
